I had the opportunity to walk around the Cuchara Mountain Resort before the leaves of the Aspen trees were blown off by the strong autumn winds. It was quite a sight to behold. Cuchara Mountain Resort to reopen year-round
The Cuchara Mountain Resort, closed since July, 2000, will reopen as a year-round resort. Last Wednesday, the Huerfano County Board of Commissioners voted to create the Cuchara Valley Recreation Foundation (CVRF) to operate the resort and issue bonds to fund the redevelopment that is estimated to cost $14 million.
